“Walk The Walk” for “Aloha From Hawai‘i”

By Amanda Taniguchi

Hurley's "Walk The Walk" is Fri, Aug 6 at 1 p.m. HI time

A team of 24 Pearl City High School students will represent Hawai‘i at Hurley’s “Walk The Walk” National Competition in Huntington Beach, California. This marks the first time a Hawai‘i team made it to the national competition. The event, dubbed “the world’s biggest high school fashion show,” strives to get those creative juices flowing in the minds of youth across the country.

Pearl City, who chose the theme “Aloha From Hawai‘i” for their collection, has a lot to look forward to. Not only will they be competing for the grand prize of $25,000, but the “Walk The Walk” competition will be held during the US Open of Surfing and Bob Hurley, the founder of the Hurley brand, will be a judge. Talk about pressure!

While their style and class will surely take them far, our designers need our votes in order to win. “Walk The Walk” will be streamed in a live webcast from California, airing at 1 p.m. Hawai‘i time on Friday, August 6. Voting is only possible once the competition begins so be sure to mark your calendars!
